Chester A La Carte This Sunday

Posted 11/8/2019 1:02pm by Ryan Lacz & Liz Balchin.

Hi All-

Remember last time I wrote, when I was working outside in a t-shirt?  Not so much anymore!  Sure, I still have a t-shirt on, but I also have 3 or 4 other layers underneath...it's 72 degrees in my mind ;)

Anther busy week on the farm, even though the growing season is finished, as we have put our efforts towards getting everyone ready for winter.  Blowing out water lines so they don't freeze and split, building shelters for animals in their various winter paddocks, setting up hay feeders for the sheep, and prepping the greenhouse for the laying hens, just a few things for us to check off our farm list (which is frighteningly long!).

Sheep breeding is going well, as is getting ready for pig breeding next month- we're substantially increasing both groups to try to keep up with customer demand.

The solar equipment to electrify our new fence in the back fields arrived, and we're very excited to first learn how to put all that together, then to get that system up and running just in time for the winter season to ensure our animals are safe from hungry predators!

Chest a la carte delivery is this coming Sunday, November 10th, from 11-Noon.  Be sure to plan ahead for Thanksgiving (there is one more delivery before then too, so there's another chance), if you need anything special to share with family and friends- duck (so much better than turkey!), bacon-wrapped anything, sausage for stuffing (sage is perfect).
